Italian Contemporary Film Festival 2018

The Italian Contemporary Film Festival is back again this year. Join us at the festival to celebrate cinema, Italian-Canadian culture and innovation in film. There will be three interactive panels to enjoy. The first will cover co-productions between Italy and Canada. It will be followed by the secrets behind the Oscar-winning film, The Shape of Water and its Italian-Canadian connections. The final panel will explore VR Innovations in film and new opportunities for storytellers.

The final panel will be moderated by SIRT Associate Director, David Dexter and will include the following speakers:

  • James Stewart - Founder of Geneva Film Company and award-winning director including Best Director, Best Animated Film, Best Animation and Best Children's Animation.
  • Manny Danelon - Award winning Producer and assistant director. He was selected by the Directors Guild of Canada to win the Don Haldane Distinguished Service Award in 2016.
  • Marco Spagnoli - Gained prestigious recognition for his contribution to Italian Cinema including nominations, awards and a wide array of acting, writing and producing credits.
  • Ana Serrano - Chief Digital Officer of the Canadian Film Centre and founder of the CFC Digital Media Lab. She has directed over 130 digital media projects, mentored over 50 start-ups and produced prominent work in Interactive Media. She has won numerous awards in the US and Canada in digital media, film and theatre industries.

The ICFF started in 2012 as a non-profit film festival and has become the largest Italian film festival outside of Italy. It is presented in cities across Canada including Toronto, Vancouver, Hamilton, Quebec City and Montreal.
